Friday, 6/13 THE HIDDEN HALF (Director, Tamineh Milani, 2001) Khosro is sent to investigate a complaint from a female political prisoner awaiting execution. In order to help her, Khosro's wife writes of her own participation in the revolution, of which Khosro is unaware until he reads his wife's memoir.

(Director, Mohsen.Makhmalbaf, 1996) "Set in Southeastern Iran among the nomadic tribes that weave the gabbeh carpets, a distinctive Persian rug that is inspired by their lives, their landscape and the loves they experience, Gabbeh is part-fictional and part-documentary film about a magical romance and how life inspires art." Questions about the role of women in Islamic society, the struggle between love and freedom, and the sources of inspiration are explored.
